Federal offers filler commissioning services for new and pre-owned Federal fillers.

Federal defines commissioning as the process of bringing a new or pre-owned Federal filler into production.

Filler commissioning includes one or more Federal Field Service Technicians or Engineers working cooperatively with the customer, local contractor and / or line integrators to begin the commercial operation of a Federal filler at quoted speeds and quality standards.

Federal Mfg. offers a full range of commissioning support services including:

  • Installation Support
  • Start-up Support
  • Custom Onsite Programming
  • Production Support

Federal works with each customer to define their requirements and their constraints, and then develops a customized program designed to insure a successful operation. All Federal Filler Commissioning Services are provided by highly trained Federal Field Service Technicians and Engineers that do one thing: service and support Federal Fillers.

Installation Support

Federal Installation Support is defined any assistance or service provided by a Federal Field Service Engineer (FSE) during the process of placing a filler in position, connecting utilities to the filler or setting-up conveyor transfers between the filler and the line’s infeed and discharge conveyors.

Installation Support can also be required when a filler must be shipped partially dissembled in order to get it into a plant and in place in the filling line. In these situations, Federal Field Service Technicians will reassemble the filler in place to make it start-up ready.

Examples of Installation Support services provided by Federal Field Service Technicians include:

  • Inspecting the filler for damage during transit.
  • Tightening and adjusting any faster or component that may have loosened during transit.
  • Inspecting all utility connections.

Federal Installation Support is provided as assistance to local contractors and / or customer personnel. Federal does not offer general or subcontractor services for filler installation.

Start-up Support

Federal Start-up Support begins when the filler is in place, utilities are connected to the filler, and transfers for infeed and discharge conveyors have been completed.

Examples of Start-up Support services provided by Federal Field Service Technicians and Engineers include:

  • Powering-up the filler for the first time and completing I/O checks.
  • Testing and confirming the operation of key filler functions.
  • Setting-up and running all containers and closures.
  • Hands-on training for operators and maintenance personnel.

Federal personnel work closely with each customer to define their start-up requirements and based on those requirements Federal will provide descriptions for the scope of work and estimates for that scope of work.

Custom Onsite Programming

Federal onsite programming services are provided by Field Service Engineers with automation, controls and programming expertise.

Custom Onsite Programming services start with defined customer requirements and expectations.

Examples of custom onsite programming include:

  • Clean-in-place systems.
  • Interface programming between a Federal filler and a customer’s conveyor line control system.
  • HMI customization.
  • Interface programming between a Federal Filler and a customer’s supervisory control & data acquisition system (SCADA).
  • Custom filler program add-ons or modifications to accommodate unique customer requirements.

Custom Onsite Programming services are ideally specified and quoted as part of the filler commissioning package.

Production Support

Federal Field Service Technicians and Engineers can provide Production Support for Federal filling systems until operators and maintenance personnel have completed their training programs. When providing Production Support, Federal Field Service Engineers operate and maintain the filler(s) to achieve target or maximum throughput in production conditions.

Production Support is commonly required when a customer must get their new filler(s) up and running at full speed as soon as possible to meet production requirements.

Federal personnel work closely with each customer to define their production support requirements and based on those requirements Federal will provide descriptions for the scope of work and estimates for that scope of work.
